Innovation has been a fundamental part of SGAM's culture from the very outset. Combined with prudential risk management, innovation is what enables it to best meet investor needs and expectations and constantly improve the quality of its offer.
In November 2006, SGAM AI set up the research foundation SGAM pour l’innovation thérapeutique (SGAM for therapeutic innovation), whose aim is to support innovative research projects, and especially cardio-vascular research projects, in academic laboratories.
With an annual operating budget of € 100,000, the foundation issues a call for projects each year. An independent jury, made up of personalities from the scientific and industrial sectors, selects those projects to be supported by the fund.
In 2008, three projects were selected for their major clinical potential for patients, the quality of the teams behind them and the fact that they can be rapidly applied in humans. The three projects cover very different areas such as diagnosis, emergency intervention and therapeutics for cardiovascular diseases.
In 2009, 4 new research projects were awarded for their innovative and inventive qualities close to clinical testing in the field of heart disease..
