Societe Generale Consumer Finance

Societe Generale Consumer Finance (SGCF) offers multi-product financing solutions to a client base of individual customers and partners.

Its products (amortizing loan, credit cards and revolving credit, leasing, insurance, etc.) are distributed through three main channels:
  • Financing of sales (cars and vehicles, home improvements, household goods, services and leisure, etc.)
  • Direct financing
  • Service solutions for financial institutions (banks, insurance companies, etc.)
SGCF has developed a genuine partnership culture built on the principle of listening to customers and partners and adapting its activities to different countries and regulations.
Priorities for 2010
  • Capitalise on and homogenise best practices for responsible lending.
  • Promote “green technologies” amongst its individual customers thanks to tailored financing solutions.
Highlights in 2010
Taking matters to heart
As part of the Ambition SG 2015 programme, Societe Generale Consumer Finance is an active contributor to the “Responsible lending” working group. Through its entities Franfinance and CGI and the Cresus network of associations which specialises in providing help to heavily indebted and over-indebted persons, Societe Generale Consumer Finance is a driving force in its field.
In those countries where demand is increasing (France, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Romania and more recently Turkey), its entities develop turnkey green loans for individuals looking to finance new equipment or renovations that will allow them to reduce their environmental footprint and/or optimise natural resources.
In 2010, five SGCF entities issued a total € 213 million in green loans (primarily to finance solar energy systems).
Putting others first
2010 saw Societe Generale Consumer Finance entities in Brazil continue to lend their support and mentoring via the Instituto Societe Generale set up in 2007.
Moreover, during the Citizen Commitment Week of June 2010, SGCF employees organised or took part in several solidarity initiatives that made the global Group rendez-vous a success: collection of goods and food for the associations supported by the Group, races to raise funds and child events.
In December 2010, CGI organised a collection for the French association "Les Restaurants du Coeur ". In total, 300 kg of food and various products and € 2,250 euros worth of restaurant vouchers were donated by CGI staff.
Protecting the environment
Reducing CO2 emissions
In order to meet the target reductions in CO2 emissions linked to direct consumption (energy, paper and business travel), several SGCF entities:
  • organised staff awareness campaigns,
  • programmed the automatic switching off of equipment outside of working hours,
  • installed energy-saving fittings (low-energy lighting),
  • optimised their printing,
  • introduced a new travel policy and made greater use of telephone conferences in order to reduce business trips.
Offsetting CO2 emissions
In 2010, the CO2 emissions of all of the division’s entities in France (Franfinance and CGI) were offset as part of the Group wide programme involving the voluntary offsetting of carbon emissions. In 2011, SGCF intends to extend the operation to include the emissions of its entities in Russia and Brazil.
