Highlights in 2010
- 15,098 full-time employees on permanent contracts 56.44% of whom are women and 11,285 fixed-term contracts.
- 374 VIE interns around the world, ranking the Group as the company with the highest number of interns for the 4th year running.
- Extension of the Group Careers recruitment tool to Russia, Italy, Belarus and Morocco. Further development of recruitment communications on social networks.
- Launch of the 5th edition of Citizen Act, the “Business Game” on Corporate and Social Responsibility.
Varied recruitment campaigns
2010 was a rebound year for Societe Generale and one in which the Group continued to pursue a number of recruitment initiatives, including:- the development and establishment of partnerships with French and European schools and universities,
- the global roll-out of its Careers recruitment sites: in 2010, four additional sites were launched (Russia, Italy, Belarus and Morocco), bringing the total number of sites to 25 with a view to presenting a more consistent employer image and pooling Group tools,
- the Societe Generale French Networks’ “One day, one contract” recruitment days for high school and university graduates,
- the 5th edition of the global Corporate Social Responsibility business game, Citizen Act.
Appealing to a younger audience
Societe Generale Group has an active policy of training young people and students (9,181 work placements and 374 VIE interns taken on in 2010) and forming lasting partnerships with higher education establishments, both in France and abroad. In France, Societe Generale encourages the integration of young people by offering work-study contracts (apprenticeship and work experience programmes) and commercial training within its different activities (two-year technical degrees and Banking and Finance Master’s degrees). As of the end of 2010, Societe Generale employed 1,351 young people on work-study contracts, mostly in Retail Banking. 2010 saw the continuation of all of Societe Generale’s initiatives with its partners (business schools, engineering and IT schools and universities), both in France and abroad. Over the year, the Group was involved in more than 400 projects including school forums, company and job presentations, lectures, round tables, CV workshops and mock interviews with admission boards or grading examiners, etc.Helping new employees find their feet
Societe Generale's “StartinG” induction programme was launched in 2007 and aims to offer each new employee a successful and consistent induction into the company regardless of the entity or country in which they are employed. The Group-wide programme lasts throughout the employee’s first 12 months, and is designed to help them discover everything they need to know about the Group, its strategy, its businesses and its values as well as their new entity and team.It includes:
- a welcome pack for new employees (introductory brochure, welcome letter, etc.);
- access to the “StartinG” Intranet site through the Group portal, which features all of the information and reference points they need to understand the company;
- an e-learning module, StartinG Online, available in English and French, to teach new employees more about the Group and increase their banking knowledge;
- mentoring by a senior member of staff during the first few months for each new employee depending on the entity;
- participation in one or more StartinG induction events at a business line, country, function or entity level;
- an annual StartinG Group induction day.
