Institute for Social Responsibility in Brazil
Société Générale's subsidiary in Brazil set up its Institute for Social Responsibility in October 2007 to coordinate and enhance its social measures. Since then, 600 volunteer workers have dedicated some of their time to helping the Institute meet its objectives which are: the development and improvement of the quality of life by encouraging free education, vocational training, sports, healthcare, the preservation of the environment, and the promotion of art and cultural activities.
In 2009, the Institute had forged partnerships with 68 local programmes, providing :
- A subsidy of € 86,000 for the NGO, Casa do Zezinho, which works to facilitate the social integration of young people from underprivileged communities by helping them to find work (TV, radio, written press sectors). Since 2008, 135 young people have found work within the communications sector and 12 young people have been recruited by SG Brazil Group,
- A subsidy of € 47,200 for the "Open Game " programme set up by the Fundação Gol de Letra which offers a socio-educational approach to sports and leisure activities to 600 young people between the ages of 7 and 18,
- A subsidy of € 35,180 for the NGO Pole Júlio Prestes SP which devotes its time to the social development of children and young people through music, musical instruments (violin, contrabass, clarinet, trombone, percussion and guitar) and singing,
- A subsidy of € 23,100 for the NGO Casa do Zezinho which offers training for young people and food education classes. Today, 80 young people between the ages of 16 and 21 attend its "Gastronomy Workshop".
